What Is Electrical Engineering?
Electrical engineering deals with the technology of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. It includes the study, design and application of electrical systems and devices, large and small. Every time you turn a light on in your home, start your car or check your smart phone, you are benefiting from the expertise of electrical engineers. Electrical engineering requires an in-depth understanding of electrical and electronic theory, mathematics and materials.
What do electrical engineers do?
Electrical engineers work on projects ranging from designing telecommunication systems, to the lighting and wiring of buildings, operation of electrical power stations and electrical control of industry machinery. Electrical engineers typically use computer aided design (CAD) systems to create schematics and lay out circuits. They also use computers to simulate how electrical devices and systems will function.
