The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is hosting an open house in Anchorage for youths aged 5-18 who are interested in joining 4-H.
4-H is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States and is linked to land-grant universities in each state. In 4-H, youths participate in hands-on projects involving topics such as health, science, gardening and cultural activities. They are encouraged to take on leadership roles in a positive environment with guidance from adult mentors.
The open house will be held at the Anchorage Outreach Center, 219 International Airport Road, Suite 100, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include activities centered on crafts, games, science, technology, engineering and math, as well as a costume contest.
There will be an information session at noon for youths interested in joining 4-H and adults interested in volunteering for 4-H activities.
