Experiences of discrimination or harassment

Results found that 27% of respondents reported having experienced discrimination or harassment.  Of those who experienced discrimination or harassment, 45% experienced it in the last year with only 24% making a formal report. This is even with 77% of respondents indicating they strongly agree or agree that they know who to contact to report an incident, 69% indicate the process for reporting is clear, and 55% indicated the process for investigating acts of discrimination or harassment at UAF is clear to them.

The survey found that UAF employees were two times more likely than students to experience discrimination or harassment. The groups that reported the highest percentage of experiencing discrimination or harassment were those that identified as non-binary and/or transgender, with 45% of students and 53% of employees.  Additionally, 22% of total respondents who identify as Conservative and 21% of total respondents who identify as having a long-term disability reported having experienced discrimination or harassment aimed at their identity.
